“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”   Jim Rohn

The most successful people in the world will also agree that who you spend time with will influence the person you eventually become; they can elevate you as much as it can bring you down.

To keep on the up and propel forward we want to align ourselves with like-minded entrepreneurs who are where we want to be, who help and support each other, are comfortable asking questions and celebrate each other's wins and network to build relationships.

The magic lies in diversifying the networks of people we interact with so that we are able to garner new perspectives that help our brand.

The Mastermind defined by the most famous advocate of masterminds, Napoleon Hill, as: "The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony."

Mastermind groups offer a combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability and support in a group setting to sharpen your business and personal skills. A mastermind group helps you and your mastermind group members achieve success.

Participants challenge each other to set powerful goals, and more importantly, to accomplish them. The group requires commitment, confidentiality, willingness to both give and receive advice and ideas, and support each other with total honesty, respect and compassion.

Mastermind group members act as catalysts for growth, devil’s advocates and supportive colleagues.

The power of social media has transformed the principle of the mastermind to allow more people to come together to build an awesome community around their business, playing a major role in allowing people to communicate and share thoughts and ideas freely within a larger audience of liked minded people. This makes collaboration much easier, which can lead to innovation and exponential growth.

As a brand, you want to keep growing and pushing your limits. By leveraging the knowledge others bring to the table, you’re in a better position to make great strides in the work you do.

As mum’s we want to utilise our brackets of limited time to leverage the benefits of joining a mastermind to grow our businessWorking from home does not mean that you have to be alone.

Whether you find an existing mastermind, or start a group of your own, you'll gain tremendous insights which improve your business and personal life.   Your mastermind partners will give you feedback, help you brainstorm new possibilities, and set up accountability structures that keep you focused and on track.

So how do you form loyal mastermind connections?

There are many masterminds out there – offline, online, structured, unstructured, paid, free or an added bonus or extension to a challenge / purchased product or service.  Some will be amazing and some of them will not be the right fit.

How do you find the right fit?

As all mastermind groups are different, it may take a few tests and trials in different groups to find the one that works for you.

  1. Find A Community

There are many communities offline and on the internet, so take the time to research the type of mastermind you would like to join.

  • Your favourite Blogs
  • Look at entrepreneurs who are where you want to be
  • Look at the communities you are already immersed in
  • Professional groups

Having like-minded people around you will give you the perspective and energy needed to go forward and stay focused.

  1. Start A Mastermind Of Your Own: I am sure you know others with similar interests who also love to improve their businesses. Why not arrange a regular get together and start your own mastermind group?
  1. Ask Others: Ask someone in your niche if they know of any masterminds that you could participate in or are looking for new members. It never hurts to ask.

Let’s revisit a few of the reasons why a mastermind is a major asset in growing of your business

Accountability & Feedback: The first reason to join a mastermind group is because the people in that group will keep you accountable.  Other like-minded entrepreneurs will tell us what’s right or wrong about our ideas with no bias.  The people in our group can be our best source of advice at times when we’re unsure where to turn to.

Network:  This is also a great way to network.  The more we expand our network, the more doors open up for us.

Resourceful:   The blending of different backgrounds, skills and knowledge creates a fantastic environment for us to learn, play off of our strengths and correct our weaknesses. There will always be something unique that we can bring to our mastermind group and that others will bring that will be of value to you and the rest of the group.

Support & Encouragement:  A mastermind can be a place where members can get their questions answered, find solutions to their problems and encouragement keeps you on target and moving forward with the important things in your personal and professional life.

Collaboration:   While this isn’t the main function of a peer-mentoring group, as a result of meeting with other talented entrepreneurs on a regular basis, we might find opportunities to work with other members in our group.
